Police seize blogger's computer over video about official's house (Video)

A computer was seized during the raid on the activist's home on a prosecutor's warrant on August 17.

Henadz Zhuleha made a video about the house of the chair of the Svetlahosk district executive committee on August 6 and posted it on his accounts on social networking sites. The video then appeared on several news sites, BelaPAN reports.

Zhuleha earlier shot videos about his town and unsolved social problems, such as lack of traffic lights, the ruining park and bad roads.

“I don't deny that I shot the house of the district executive committee chair. If you ask about the problems of the town, the municipal authorities answer they have no money. I showed in my video that they have money, but spend it on construction of houses for bosses instead of solving problems of people,” the blogger said.

The police came with a search warrant.

“Policemen said to me that the wife of the district executive committee chair filed a complaint against me saying that my video on the internet denigrates her family's honour and dignity and information on the video is defamation. I think the video contains neither defamation nor deliberately false information,” Shuleha said.

According to the police, the wife of the district executive committee chair asks to bring the activist to justice.

According to preliminary information, a criminal case against the blogger has not been initiated neither were charges brought against him. Police officers said to Henadz Zhuleha his computer would be examined and then a decision taken whether he must be charged.
