Security guards of club in Hrodna break customer's nose ahead of wedding

Security guards got angry at shooting a video on a mobile phone.

Siarhei and his friends had a stag party at the Coliseum nightclub in Hrodna on the night of August 3-4. According to Dzmitry, the fiancé's friend, security guards refused to let one of their companions in saying that he jumped the queue to enter the club, Vecherny Grodno newspaper reports.

“Security guards were aggressive from the very beginning. They used a chokehold when I moved to Aleh, whom security guards began to push out of the building,” Dzmitry says. The fiancé tried to talk to the security guards and persuade them to let his friend in. The talks end in deadlock. The security officers began to shove Siarhei and then beat him.

The mass brawl began after fiancé's brother Yauheny decided to film the incident on a mobile phone. “The security guards saw it and attacked Yauheny, snatched the phone out of his hands and began to beat him,” Dzmitry recalls. “I heard that later one of them said to his co-worker that his fist was aching. Yauheny is at hospital now.”

Illia, the fiancé's friend, tried to atop the brawl, but was hit. Dzmitry was beaten too. The friends heard that Siarhei asked not to beat him, because he would have a wedding in a week, but the security guards ignored his words. The guys claim the security officers continued to beat them, though less severely, even after the police arrived. Dzmitry has a closed nasal fracture, the fiancé and his another friends have bruises on the face and body.

A journalist called the club but only heard that nothing had happened. A representative of the club said security guards just performed their duties and added “drunk and inadequate” people often appear in the club. Asked the staff member to introduce himself, but he answered the club director would call the journalist back and hung up. The director didn't call.

The police confirm information about the incident and say a criminal case may be initiated after an inquiry. CCTV footage was examined; participants of the brawl gave evidence. The guys filed a complaint about the club to the police and the city executive committee and made records in the book of complaints and suggestions. The Coliseum club answered the CCTV footage was examined and a topic of polite treatment of customers was discussed at a staff meeting.
