Belarusian MFA tells of Russian Ambassador

Alexander Surikov was warned against speculations regarding the arrest of Vladislv Baumgertner.

“During the meeting Mr.Alexander Mikhnevich drew attention of the Ambassador to the inadmissibility of the incorrect interpretations and concoctions concerning the situation connected with the detention of Vladislav Baumgertner,” the MFA press service reports.

The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the Russian party to keep the situation in the scope of law and marked the necessity of the competent authorities of the two countries interaction, as there is the legal base available for that.

Alexander Surikov said earlier that the arrest of Vladislav Baumgertner, Uralkali CEO and chairman of the supervisory board of the Belarusian Potash Company, should be regarded as an act discrediting the Belarusian authorities.

He reminded that Baumgertner had arrived in Minsk at the invitation of the Belarusian PM, met with him and got detained at the airport as he going to leave for Moscow.
