Priest Lazar’s sister: Brother doesn’t admit guilt

Uladzislau Lazar’s relatives and the congregation of his parish do not believe that the priest is guilty as KGB accuses him of complicity to espionage.

The information that priest Lazar does not admit himself guilty comes from Radio Svaboda with the reference to his sister Janina. She received the information from the lawyer, who visited the priest in the KGB jail in summer. After last visit the relatives have found out that the investiagation has been prolonged for another month.

Letters do not come from Uladzislau Lazar, meetings with him are not allowed. Even the meeting with a counsel, scheduled for early September, did not take place.

We would remind that on 26 July Lukashenka claimed that an employee of Belarusian special services had been detained, who had worked for foreign states via representatives of the Catholic Church. He specified that the special service agent “not only gave away information, but people suffered from his activities, who worked abroad”. In some time later it became known that priest Uladzislau Lazar had been detained. He is charged with passing money to a “spy”.
