A film about the Belarusian resistance will be shown in the main programme of an international film festival in Istanbul.

The winner receives the Golden Scales Award and a money prize, Radio Svaboda reports.

Besides Viva Belarus, the programme includes 10 movies from Germany, Croatia, Spain, Canada, Israel and other states. The festival will show about 150 films.

The 3d International Crime and Punishment Film Festival takes place in Istanbul (Turkey) on September 13-19. An academic conference on human rights is also scheduled. Lawyers from about 50 countries will present reports about the situation in their countries.

The movie Viva Belarus will be screened three times – on September 15, 17 and 19. Today's showing takes place at Atlas Cinema in Taksim Square known for anti-government protests held two months earlier.

The film will be presented by co-scriptwriter Franak Viachorka and leading actor Zmitser Vinsent Papko.

The movie Viva Belarus won the award in the Panorama section at the Gdynia Film Festival on September 13 and received the best screenplay award at the Brussels Film Festival.
