Stanislau Shushkevich: Miasnikovich not prime minister, but errand boy

No statements by the Belarusian ruler can explain the arrest of Uralkali CEO Vladislav Baumgertner.

First head of independent Belarus Stanislau Shushkevich spoke to charter97.org about Lukashenka's remark about his readiness to give Baumgertner to the Russian authorities.

“If the state behaves like a terrorist, any statements by the head of state will be in appropriate. If the country's prime minister invites someone to a meeting and this person is thrown into jail, he is not the prime minister. He is an errand boy. Whatever the excuses may be, but such actions are a demonstration of terrorism and a desire to attract attention. It is absolutely uncivilized conduct. I see no excuses for this stunt,” the politician thinks.

He is convinced that Vladislav Baumgertner must be released immediately.

“Belarusian ruler's jugglery cannot surprise me. It is normal for a person who occupies a high post but has a low cultural level. As for Russia, it was shocked. I think the Russian authorities needed some time to understand what happened. The result of their decisive measures is that Belarus decided to release Uralkali CEO,” Stanislau Shushkevich concluded.

We remind that the Belarusian dictator said today the extradition of Vladislav Baumgertner was possible “if Russia will investigate his case in accordance with the law”.
