Parliament members will simplify falsifiers’ work

Parliamentary elections are planned on being held in s single round.

The changes are provided by the draft law “On introducing changes and additions to certain law of the Republic of Belarus on the issues of holding elections and referendums”. Journalists received the information today from the chairman of the parliament’s standing committee for state building, local self-governance and regulations Aliaksandr Zalulia, BelTA reports.

“It is planned that after the adoption of this law elections will be held in a single round. The only condition is the participation of over 50% voters”, - he claimed.

Aliaksandr Zalulia did not specify when the draft law may be adopted. The second reading of the document in the parliament is for the autumn session.

The first reading of the draft law will take place in 2 October at the first session of the fifth convocation of the House of Representatives. Aliaksandr Zalulia noted that the document was worked out in details in the inter-session period. He emphasized that the opinion on the vacations in between sessions is mistaken – parliament members keep work in that time, including with draft laws.

Starting from 1995 no elections or referendum, held in Belarus, were recognized by the organizations empowered by the international community to observe and assess elections. Hundreds of reports, monitoring documents, analytical materials, researches in electoral falsifications in Belarus have been done in that time. Hundreds of cases of violations and falsifications were described. International observers are in detail familiar with the methods used by the Belarusian regime to ensure the necessary election results.

The conclusion has long been made by the opposition as well as by international observers that there is no elections in Belarus as an institution. After the events of 19 December 2010 this conclusion became tougher: under the show of elections a crime is committed against the people in Belarus.
