Vinahradau given 15 days in custody

Pavel Vinahradau, an activist of the civil campaign Tell the Truth, was sentenced to 15 days in custody by the Savetski district court.

The activist's wife, Sviatlana Vinahradava, said he was found guilty of violating the order of organising or holding mass events or pickets (article 23.34 of the Code of Administrative Offences). The court decision was taken by judge Kiryl Palulekh, BelaPAN news agency reports.

Pavel Vinahradau's father, who was also detained, will not tried to all appearance. “At least, the police say so,” Sviatlana Vinahradava said.

The leader of Zmena, the youth wing of the civil campaign Tell the Truth, was detained on September 27 near his home. He was returning home after a performance in Yakub Kolas Square. Activists install pig heads on benches demanding to release political prisoners, raise salaries for health care professionals, not to impose an exit duty and others.

Vinahradau was taken to the Maskouski district police station and then to the Savetski district, where the performance was held.

Pavel's father, who was near by accident, was detained, Sviatlana Vinahradava says.
