BelTA edits Lukashenka's remark (Video)

The official information agency cut Lukashenka's words “about unwise people who rushed to currency exchange offices”.

Answering questions of journalists in Zhlobin, the Belarusian ruler said the blame on a future devaluation lays entirely on Belarusians.

“As of today, we bought by 150-200 million (I don't remember the exact figure) foreign currency more than we sold this year. As I can see in recent months, our unwise people have rushed to foreign exchange offices. Well, go on! High demand for foreign currency leads to devaluation of the Belarusian ruble with all that it implies. No demand means a quiet situation in the market. I say it for the second time this months. We know it from our bitter experience. I stress again: you have your fate in your hands,” he noted.

The use of the insulting words “unwise people” made many Belarusians angry.

BelTA, the official information agency, cut this scandalous remark from a video. The words were supposed to sound at 1:59.
