Polish writer, essayist, historian, chief editor of "Gazeta Wyborcza" again apologized on behalf of the Polish government for the annoying absurdity against Ales Bialiatski and his family.
Mr. Michnik expressed this apology on 5 September in the town of Krynki in the Bialystok district, while holding the XIVth yearly Trialogues in the political debates together with the Polish politician Leszek Maczulski and the Belarusian politician Vintsuk Viachorka.
Ales Bialiatski serves his term in correctional colony No. 2 in Babruisk. On November 24, 2011, he was found guilty of tax fraud on a large scale and sentenced to 4.5 years in a medium security correctional colony and confiscation of property. The reason for the prosecution was his bank accounts in Lithuania and Poland. The court ignored that fact that he had spent the money on the accounts on human rights activity.
