Lukashenka: 400,000 spongers must work in the name of revolution

The dictator again raised his concerns over the problem of spongers.

Lukashenka discussed employment and migration problems in Belarus and touched on the issue of unemployed people and social parasitism. The ruler ordered to prepare measures to make unemployed people work and to stop offering state benefits for free, BelTA reports.

“I was informed that about 500,000 people are not involved in the economy. Let's assume that 100,000 are housewives and people working on their household plots. But what do the remaining 400,000 people do? Who pays for them?” Lukashenka wonders.

The ruler also spoke about the problem of those who work mandatory to compensate the government for childcare costs.

“How do they work? You send them to work at housing and public utility companies. They are employed, but other workers suffer and complain, because they are absent from work and the police have to bring them back. Why aren't further steps taken? If he is hired, he must work. If he doesn't work, why don't we take further measures?” Lukashenka noted. “Why do we put in so much effort into them? We do not. We just pass them on to others and are happy about it, as the process is going on. But the process is no way going on.”

The ruler noted that these and other spongers “use all benefits from the government”, receive free education and medical help, pay for public utilities on the tariffs subsidised by the state and demand decent pensions.

“We need to stop the practice of social parasitism. 400,000 people must be involved in work in the name of revolution. There should be no idlers in the country. We need to make these people work and to stop giving free benefits to those who don't work,” Lukashenka stressed.

The dictator appointed head of the presidential administration Andrei Kabiakou and state secretary of the Security Council Aliaksandr Miazhueu responsible for working out proposals on the issue and ordered to inform him about the work done by the end of the year.
