Russia bans imports of pork from Belarus

The ban is to be in force until November 11.

Charter97.org has been informed about that by Rosselkhoznadzor (Russia's state veterinary and phytosanitary service).

The agreement about that has been reached during negotiations of Rosselkhoznadzor's head Sergei Dankvert with Belarusian minister of agriculture Leanid Zayats on Thursday.

The decision was connected to detection of the African swine fever (ASF) virus genome in meat products of 4 Belarusian meat-processing plants.

We remind that on October 27 Rosselkhoznadzor found ASF in sausages of Babrujsk meat-processing factory. Before that Russian veterinary and phytosanitary service inspectors recorded traces of the virus in products of Orsha, Minsk and Maholyou plants.
