Natallia Piatkevich to head Trade Union Federation?

A former aide to Lukashenka may take a post of head of official trade unions.

Natallia Piatkevich was relieved of her post on October 1 “by the agreement of the parties”. Lukashenka, his press service and the former aide do not comment on the decision, Belorusy i Rynok newspaper writes.

It is an interesting fact that Natallia Piatkevich and head of the president's administration Andrei Kabiakou were in charge of the state commission on optimisation of structure, staff and functions of government agencies, which task was to reduce the number government staff in Belarus.

It seems that the staff optimisation has hit Piatkevich herself. However, it is possible that it was her initiative to leave the post. Anyway, the phrase “by the agreement of the parties” does not give sufficient grounds to suggest that she found herself in disgrace and we won't see her in politics anymore.

Rumours are circulating about Natallia Piatkevich's new job (an embassy, the Ministry of Information, the Ministry of Justice, business in Russia, etc), but nobody seems to have reliable information. Aliaksandr Yarashuk, the head of the Belarusian Congress of Democratic Trade Unions, turns attention to the fact that Leanid Kozik, the head of the Trade Union Federation, vacated the important for the country's political process office. It's worth recalling that Kozik had been Lukashenka's aide before being appointed appointed head of the Trade Union Federation.
