Pavel Vinahradau sentenced to 15 days in custody

Minsk's Maskouski district court sentenced an activist of the Zmena movement to 15 days in custody.

He was charged with disorderly conduct at the Maskouski district police department on October 8. The trial was conducted by Volha Listratsenka, Radio Svaboda reports.

Pavel Vinahradau also received a fine of 1,200,000 for being drunk in public at the Maskouski district police department. He went to the police department for a check as part of the police supervision.

Pavel Vinahradau said at the trial both cases were fabricated by the police to extend the police supervision and possibly send him to the mandatory alcohol treatment course. Vinahradau says he is the only person in Belarus who has been under supervision for more than 2 years.

The first trial ended and the second one began. Judge Volha Listratsenka was to decide whether the police supervision over Pavel Vinahradau should be extended. The term of the supervision expires in late October.

Aliaksandr Kuryanovich, a corrections officer from the Maskouski district police department, gave evidence against Vinahradau. He said the activist was drunken when he came to the police department, shouted and insulted police officers when he heard that the term of the supervision would be extended.
