Raman Yakauleuski: Lukashenka removes non-native Belarusians from government

But the measures do not guarantee the strengthening of national security.

Political observer Raman Yakauleuski said in an interview with Radio Racyja why, in his opinion, Yury Zhadobin was dismissed from his post as Belarusian defence minister.

“We can look at Zhadobin's biography and find that he was born outside Belarus. We can suppose that it is a process of removing those who was born outside Belarus from government bodies, including defence and security agencies. I'd like to remind you that the former head of the presidential security service was not born in Belarus. Do the place and the date of birth guarantee national security? I don't think so,” Raman Yakauleuski said.

Lukashenka relieved Lieutenant General Yury Zhadobin of his duties as defence minster and transferred him to the retired reserve with the right to wear military uniform and rank insignia.
