US Senate passes bill on military assistance to Ukraine

The Senate voted unanimously for the Ukraine Freedom Support Act.

Censor.net reports it with a link to the website of the US Senate. Hanna Hopko, an MP from the Self Reliance party (Samopomich), writes about it on Facebook. Another Self Reliance MP, commander of the Donbas battalion Semen Semenchenko, comments on the event: “The Senate passes bill No. 28-28 that provides Ukraine with military assistance. We thank the Ukrainian community in the US, Dr Karber, General Clark, Senator McCain, Myroslava Gongadze, our new and old friends in the US. General Zamana, Colonels Bereza and Teteruk, you and we did a great job. We need to unite our efforts to lobby the interests in Ukraine abroad, first of all in the US. This is the future of our country and our children,” he writes.

The document was introduced by Senator Robert Menendez. The Ukraine Freedom Support Act passed the Senate unanimously. The Act calls Ukraine a non-NATO ally, reduces Ukraine’s dependence on Russian gas and provides assistance for the Ukrainian army and refugees. The Act also proposes to impose new sanctions on Russia.

“The bill should pass the House of Representatives to become a law. It is expected to be done by the current House that ends its work tomorrow. Lawmakers said earlier the Congress could work the weekend,” journalist Myroslava Gongadze says.
