Donald Tusk: Sanctions against Russia started bearing fruit

Thanks to sanctions the tone of relations between the EU and Russia has started to change.

This statement has been made by Donald Tusk, President of the European Council, ZN.ua reports.

“It is bearing fruit. The tone of the relations with Russia, the relations of the EU with Russia has started changing. To my mind it has happened mostly thanks to the sanctions. They [the sanctions] have started bearing fruit,” he noted.

The President of the European Council noted that all the countries of the EU should be aware that the sanctions are going to hurt them as well.

“If there is a desire to drive Russia at certain actions with the help of the sanctions, and it requires sacrifices. I think these sacrifices could not me disproportionate, they should not exceed Europe’s capabilities, however we should remind Russia that such behaviour is inappropriate,” Tusk said.
