Accident at "Polimir" plant in Navapolatsk

The furnace was burning, several workers felt seedy.

“On Monday afternoon the accident occurred at "Polimir" plant OAO "Naftan" in Navapolatsk. The furnace was burning in the department No. 204. Outdated equipment caused the accident. This department deals with hydrocyanic acid and it is highly dangerous and toxic. I work there but the managing staff keeps silence. Children were kept in schools, teachers were trying not to let them out, and no one knows anything! No alarms were ringing to warn people of danger. It is said some people felt seedy”, he said.

Charter97.org journalist tried to find out details of the incident from other plant employees. The worker of the plant Aliaksandr Iakushevich confirmed the information.

"Yes, the furnace was burning in the department No. 201, nothing serious, some people found themselves bad but there were no casualties", he said.

Charter97.org also managed to contact the work safety service of "Polimir".

"There was no gas leakage. It was just fire, which was quickly suppressed", the plant representatives said.
