Polish PM tells about EU's plans to respond to Russia's convoys

The European Union will send humanitarian aid to Ukraine in response to Putin's convoys.

The statement was made by Prime Minister of Poland Ewa Kopacz, Polskie Radio reports.

According to her, the EU's convoys could be a response to the policy carried out by Russia.

“It would be a good response to Russia's convoys to Ukraine, the convoys carrying fuel for military vehicles and personal use,” Kopacz said.

“I was happy to see the spontaneous reaction of my counterparts, prime ministers of other EU countries,” she said, adding that the decision to increase the EU's humanitarian aid to Ukraine was taken due to that reaction.

She assured that Poland would send Ukraine material aid – clothes and medicines – as well as the “faith that it won't stop on the way to joining the EU, that it has friends here in Poland and the friends support the Ukrainians in difficult times”.

The OSCE mission reports about 11 so called “humanitarian convoys” from Russia that were sent to Donbas.

The Polish PM said commenting on Ukraine's decision to cancel its non-bloc status that it was the “decision of the people of Ukraine”. “I think NATO should hold its door open for new members in the same way as it was open for Poland,” the prime minister said.
