Is Belarusian railway giving axe to 100 employees in Homel?

On instructions of Lukashenka Homel section of the Belarusian railway is getting ready for “optimization”.

Charter97.org was informed about that by a viewer from Homel.

“As a part of optimization announced by Lukashenka personally, and Myasnikovich, who had informed him on performance figures, about 100 employees are to be made redundant at Homel section of the Belarusian railway. The volume of work is reduced, and people are to find themselves in the street. Workers have already been warned about the job cut. Different categories of employees are to be given the axe, including administrative staff, though everyone doubts that. The situation is getting worse also because all enterprises of Homel are facing difficulties, and there is no opportunity to find another job. The backward economic management of the country results in creation of a whole army of unemployed. The spirits of employees are low, I think a social eruption with alarming consequences is possible soon,” he writes.

The editorial office of charter97.org asked the spokesperson of the Belarusian railway Andrei Baravy for comment. He denied the reports categorically.

“You have been misled. There are no job cuts, and they are not planned either,” he said.

We remind that for a few months in a row reports are heard that enterprises a moved to a four and thee-days week, that their wages are paid partially, they are reduced, and that people are forced to go on unpaid leave.
