Azarov sells house in Pechersk with no difficulties, despite being on wanted list

Runaway former Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has sold his expensive house in Kyiv’s Pechersk district, despite being on the wanted list.

The Ukrainian news Web site Nashi Groshi (Our money) has reported it.

Nashi Groshi said it had obtained a copy of a document of power of attorney issued by Azarov that allowed the sale to go ahead, UNIAN reports.

Azarov issued the power of attorney in a Moscow notary on June 23 this year. According to the document, Azarov’s interests regarding the sale of the property are represented by Gleb Leshkov, who has held senior positions within the Development construction group of Alexei Azarov, the son of former Prime Minister Mykola Azarov.

The residential building has an area of 594 square meters, surrounded by 0.1 hectares of land, and is located at 1 Zverinetskaya Street. In 2013, Azarov in his property declaration gave details of a house with the same area.

As for the land plot of 0.1 hectares, Azarov received it in private ownership from Kyiv city council in 2003 for the construction, operation and maintenance of the residential house, outbuildings and structures.

The power of attorney includes the cadastral number for the land plot of 8000000000:82:142: 0048. A two-storey house is located on this site.

Real estate Web sites have listings for a house with a larger area at the same address, priced at $3.50 million.

Azarov is on the international wanted list. According to the latest data of Ukrainian Security Service, Azarov is residing near Moscow. In spring, a number of Western countries imposed economic sanctions against him, which include confiscation of property iodentified as belonging to him.
