Alyaksandr Yarashuk: Kabyakou and Co are unlikely to stay tall in saddle for long

Alyaksandr Yarashuk: Kabyakou and Co are unlikely to stay tall in saddle for long

The new victims of the unchangeable line of policy and economic policy have already been appointed.

Such a statement has been made by the chairman of the Belarusian Congress of the Democratic Trade Unions (BCDTU) Alyaksandr Yarashuk, who comments on his Facebook the reshuffle of the government, the National Bank and Lukashenka’s administration’s executives, which has taken place today.

“It is extremely naive to draw any conclusions about any changes in the economic policy from the dismissals and appointments in the state agencies and bodies of state administration,” he said. “No matter how forward-minded new appointees are and how modern their market thinking is, no one of them or they collectively are going to receive a mandate for changing the line of the economic policy. No one will sacrifice himself, throwing oneself under the bus, it’s for sure. Market-oriented Myasnikovich has not done that, and market-oriented Kabyakou is not going to do that. Someone had to become a scapegoat in the eyes of the nation, the one responsible for problems with the Belarusian ruble and the panic buying in the consumer market, so they were thrown to the wolves. It has been done for the sake of the person who has been wisely ruling the country for 20 years, just to take the heat off him once again. He is never mistaken in anything, but people often let him down and betray his trust. This time Myasnikovich, Yermakova and Co has done that. The next hostages of the unchangeable line of policy and economic policy could be just pitied. It looks as if the Belarusian economy is breaking into a wild gallop, as a stubbornly disobedient horse. Kabyakou and Co is unlikely to stay in the saddle for long.”
