Poroshenko praises Lukashenka

The president of Ukraine said why he had met with the Belarusian dictator.

According to Petro Poroshenko, Aliaksandr Lukashenka and Nursultan Nazarbayev refused to recognise Crimea as a part of Russia. The Ukrainian president made this statement at a press conference in Kyiv, UNIAN reports.

“Neither Belarus no Kazakhstan have recognised Russia's sovereignty over Crimea as well as fake elections in Donetsk and Luhansk. This is a firm and principled position of both leaders. This is the result of our active diplomatic contacts... Russia has found itself isolated in this situation,” he said.

Petro Poroshenko is sure that Lukashenka and Nazarbayev “left Putin alone”.

Russian experts think the visits of heads of state of Belarus and Kazakhstan to Kyiv were approved by the president of Russia.
