Ukraine cuts export from Russia twofold and increases from Belarus

The import from Russia to Ukraine fell twofold, and the export declined by one third.

The State Fiscal Service of Ukraine (SFS) reports a 50% decline in the import of goods from Russia to Ukraine in 2014, SFS head Anatoliy Makarenko said at a briefing on Thursday, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

According to him, the customs service noticed a 5% increase in the export of goods to the EU.

“The volume of the taxable import in January-November 2014 has fallen 20% in the dollar terms. The reduction in the import from Russia was 50%, and the export to Russia fell 32%,” he said.

According to Makarenko, the export to the CIS countries and Asia has reduced 31% and 8% respectively.

The import from the EU to Ukraine fell 22%, from the CIS countries – 42%.

“It's worth noting that the import from Belarus has increased 12%,” he added.
