The Young Front members, who were detained by Ukrainian border guards, will be tried in Yelsk.

Mikalai Dzemidzenka and Zmitser Kramianetski wait for the trial.

A court of the Yelsk district (Homel region) will hear the administrative cases against the Young Front activists on February 24. They are charged with violating article 17.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences (disorderly conducts), Viasna human rights centre reports.

The activists, who were going to Kyiv, were stopped by Ukrainian border guards on the morning of February 22. They got stamps in their passports denying them entry to Ukraine for 5 year for no reasons. Dzemidzenka and Kramianetski were handed over to the Belarusian side. They had to wait for the police and were then taken to a police station in Yelsk and presented charges. The activists remain at the police station until trial.

The Young Front activists had to give written promises not to take part in protests in Ukraine during their previous visit to Kyiv in December.

We remind that it's not the first time when Ukrainian security officers have detained the Belarusian activists going to the pro-EU protests in Kyiv.
