Crimean Tatars prepare referendum on Crimea's status

The decision can be made by the Crimean Tatars Kurultai (national congress).

Ukrainian member of parliament Mustafa Dzhemilev addressed the Council of Europe in Brussels. He spoke about the situation in Crimea and goals of his visit to the United States.

The information was received from the politician's press service.

The second special session of the Crimean Tatar Kurultai, which will be held in Bakhchysarai on March 29, will make an important for the peninsula decision. “We will hold our representative referendum among the Crimean Tatars,” Mustafa Dzhemilev said.

The politician addressed the Council of Europe during his working trip to Brussels. “Unlike the Russian referendum, our referendum won't be biased. I am going to raise this question in the UN Security Council in New York. The Crimean Tatars will have their referendum on Crimea's status,” Mustafa Dzhemilev said.

According to the politician, the Crimean Tatars are not adventurers or dreamers. The referendum will show the whole world the way chosen by imperialists and occupants. “We can presume that Russia will prohibit to cover the referendum for the freedom-loving world,” Dzhemilev said. “The whole world will see that Russia doesn't plan to respect the rights of the Crimean Tatars. The world will see the consequences of the occupation.”

Mustafa Dzhemilev said a part of Tatar women and children had to flee Crimea for fear of terror. He noted lack of reaction to the occupation of Crimea.
