Occupants prepare storm of military base near Donetsk

42

Militants declared an ultimatum to the command of the military base in Yalta, the Donetsk region.

About 100 militants, who introduced themselves as Berkut officers, ordered the Ukrainian soldiers to surrender by 13:30. They said they would storm the base if their demand were not fulfilled.

A representative of the military base confirmed the information in a telephone conversation with a journalist of Den newspaper. The ultimatum expired, but the militants haven't begun the action.

Military exercises in Yalta (the Donetsk region) began in March. There's no precise information about the military equipment at the military base. Many mercenaries, including Russian citizens and former Ukrainian law-enforcement offices, are reported to have been sent in Ukraine from Crimea, which was occupied by Russian troops. Russian subversive groups and local separatists began to seize administration buildings in eastern Ukraine on April 6. They also take over police stations and security service offices that have armouries.
