Odessa residents form battalion for region protection

This will be a special army unit over 400 people in numbers.

The task is to promptly restore the rule of law and order in the region, the governor Volodymir Nemirovskiy claims on his Facebook page.

“The battalion is being formed by the head of the Ukraine Defense Ministry’s General Staff. It is commanded directly by me on behalf Odessa region state administration. The salary is small, but we will make additional payments out of the ‘Patriot’ charity fund topped up by caring Odessa residents, - he emphasized. – Our region needs patriots, true Odessa dwellers. If you agree, I am inviting you to serve. We will give you weapon, uniform, provide a combat training. The mobilization point is located at Odessa region military commissariat. You may call there, but it is easier to reach the Defense Coordination Staff at region state administration”.

He also announced the conditions of the service in the Odessa region territorial battalion:

“You must be a citizen of Ukraine and have no other passports. You must be from 18 to 55 years old. You must be well prepared physically. You must be a patriot of the single, indivisible Ukraine”.
