Belarusian intelligent officer’s trial will start in Warsaw on 16 June

Belarusian intelligent officer’s trial will start in Warsaw on 16 June

The closed doors proceeding will take place in the special guarded hall of the county court.

This comes from the Polish Gazeta Wyborcza.

The details of the case remain unrevealed. The charges have been sent to court in February by Warsaw prosecutor’s office for appellations. The Belarusian is accused under the article 130 part one of the Criminal Code, which reads as follows: “The one, who partakes in enemy’s intelligence activities against Poland is a subject of the punishment of imprisonment for one up to ten years”, Nasha Niva reports.

Charges are also brought against the Belarusian under the article of producing and using forged documents.

Earlier this year information came out of the detention of two citizens of Belarus, suspected of espionage. It was said that one of them, a 41-year old, had been under arrest for two years. For several years he had cooperated with military intelligence officers, who considered him a source within Belarusian secret services and paid for information. Then Polish media wrote that the information turned out to be fake.

The detained were interested in information on the Polish armed forces.
