Representative offices of foreign companies prohibited to pay in currency

Employees of representative offices of foreign companies, regardless of their citizenship, are to recieve salary in Belarusian rubles.

Such a ban comes into force since July 25 according to the law of January 8, 2014 “On amendments and additions to the Labour Code of Belarus.” According to the document, an article explaining details of regulating labour of representative offices of foreign companies with foreign investments, is excluded from the Labour Code, “Ezhednevnik” writes.

After exclusion of this article from the Labour Code, this category of employees falls under the general order of salaries payments.

According to the Labour Code, salaries are paid in currency of Belarus, and this is a binding norm. It is applied to all workers, irrespective of citizenship, who had concluded a labour contract at the territory of Belarus.
