Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with the Belarusian dictator.

The president of Russia informed the Belarusian ruler about the economic measures taken against food imports from the countries that imposed sanctions on Russian entities and individuals. “Vladimir Putin expressed hope that Belarus will understand such measures which aim to protect Russia’s economic security. The Belarusian President, for his part, remarked that full transparency relying on partnership will be ensured on the border,” the press release said.
Lukashenka and Putin discussed the issues of cooperation in the Eurasian Economic Union and its expansion. They reaffirmed their position that Armenia’s accession to the union should not do harm to the Customs Union.
“Aliaksandr Lukashenka and Vladimir Putin also shared opinions regarding the development of the situation in Ukraine due to the signing of the association agreement with the European Union,” Lukashenka's press service informs.
