Poroshenko and Merkel discuss ceasefire in Donbas region

Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel expressed concern over the cases of ceasefire violation in the Donbas region.

She said it in a telephone conversation with president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on September 14. The parties agree to make further efforts to settle the situation peacefully, charter97.org learnt from Petro Poroshenko's press service.

“The Chancellor supported the adoption of the law that provided for the special status of certain districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions and the law on amnesty by the Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday,” the press release reads.

The leaders of Ukraien and Germany discussed the possibility of continuing international negotiations in Normandy format.
