UN: 4,808 people killed in the east of Ukraine

The number of people killed in the east of Ukraine in the conflict with Russia has reached 4,808 people since April 2014.

The report published on Sunday by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reads.

This is reported by ZN.UA citing TASS.

"From April 2014 till Jan. 6, 2015, at least 4,808 people were killed in the east of Ukraine (including 298 passengers of the Malaysian Boeing), and 10,468 were wounded," the report reads.

The UN noted that the amount of forced migrants reached over 1 million people: 634,000 are internally displaced, and 594,000 more migrated to neighboring countries, mainly Russia.

The report also notes that about 5.2 million people remain in the war zone, with 1.4 million of them being in exceptionally vulnerable position and in need of humanitarian aid.

As reported earlier, the number of people killed in the Donbas reached 4,771 people in December, according to the UN data.
