Volodymyr Ohryzko: Russia can launch offensive at any moment

Ukraine should order a general mobilisation and prepare people for resistance to the aggressor.

The idea of a large-scale offensive on Ukraine continues to be widely discussed in Russia, and no awful events can influence it.

Volodymyr Ohryzko, a Ukrainian diplomat and former foreign minister, told it to the GORDON website.

“The terrorist attack in Volnovakha influence neither the position of Russia nor the position of militants,” the diplomat said.

Ohryzko said that none events can make Russian president Vladimir Putin change his aggressive stance.

“Taking into account that they already accused Ukraine [of the attack], we can hardly expect them to stop and think about what is happening,” the former foreign minister noted.

Ohryzko is sure that Russia can launch an offensive at any moment.

“Common sense says that a large-scale offensive would be a catastrophe for Russia. But no one listen to common sense there. In this situation, we should order a general mobilisation and prepare people for resistance to the aggressor that can go over the line at any moment,” the diplomat concluded.

After the death of 13 civilians near Volnovakha, president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko declared January 15 the day of mourning for the people murdered by terrorists in Donbas. According to the press centre of the anti-terrorist operation, fire was opened by militants from the town of Dokuchaevsk. The Ministry of Internal Affairs supposes that militants wanted to hit the checkpoint of Ukrainian troops but missed. The Ukrainian law-enforcement bodies say the attack on the bus was an act of terrorism.
