Avakov: War in Donbas will end after fall of Putin regime

It will take a week to defeat militants, but Russia should stop sending weapons to Donbas.

Ukraine's interior minister Arsen Avakov wrote it on Facebook. He wrote this post after two children died in Uhlehorsk due to shelling by militants.

“Grad missiles from Yenakiieve hit their house in Uhlehorsk at 14:45,” he writes. “Boys died on the site, a girl was taken to hospital with injuries. She is alive.

They were in the street, holding their hands, remembering the terrorist attack on a bus in Volnovakha. They were thinking about thousands of people who died in the war that was initiated by militants and Russians.

They were in the street, and militants were firing on residential areas. Avdeyevka, Karsnohorovka, Uhlehorsk.”

Arsen Avakov says he raised the question of opening fire on civilians by militants in a conversation with the head of the OSCE mission.

“He assured me that he would immediately demand that Donetsk militants stop fire,” he wrote. “Yes, that's true. But the war will not end until Russia stops supplying them with deadly missiles and stops participating in shooting in Ukraine. The matter is not militants and separatists. It will take a week for people to defeat them. The matter is that Russians should stop delivering deadly missiles to Ukraine in their 'humanitarian convoys'.

The war will calm down and erupt again, but it will end only after the fall of the Putin regime. No other end is possible.

We live in this time and we have to survive ordeals and grief. The time to be strong. The time not to break and go through difficulties. The time to survive and remain humans. The time to take care of one another. The time to defend a far and unfamiliar home somewhere in Uhlehorsk or Maryinka as if it was your own home.

Hold on! Remain humans. It is the only way to defeat the evil that fire on us.”
