Leonid Kuchma: Putin is afraid of a real war

12

The ex-President of Ukraine believes that the Kremlin will not have an open conflict with Ukraine and will continue hybrid warfare.

"Russia will not openly bring its troops in Ukraine. They have still not recognized their regular army is involved (in the conflict-editor's note). Today, even a fool understands that all these events would not take place without Russian soldiers’ participation", Leonid Kuchma said on January 21.

The Vice President called the mass offence by pro-Russian militants and Russian soldiers an attempt to put pressure on Ukraine and its allies, Belsat reports.

"This is pressure primarily put on Ukraine so that we agree to Russia's terms. It is also put on the Europeans and the United States: I will not stop until you accept my terms", the former head of Ukraine emphasized.

January 21 during the Economic Forum in Davos, Petro Poroshenko, acting president of Ukraine, said that there were 9 000 Russian soldiers and 500 tanks in the territory of self-appointed states.

"If it's not an aggression, so what should then be considered it? The head of Ukraine asked the present.

Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary General, urged Russia's leadership to withdraw its army from eastern Ukraine and respect the Minsk memorandum.
