The “single” exchange rate of the Belarusian ruble against the dollar and the euro has been established.

The ruble/dollar exchange rate grew Br960 ruble (7.5%) and reached 13,760 Belarusian rubles a dollar on the Belarusian Currency and Stock Exchange on January 8.

The euro went up by Br940 (6.1%) to 16,240 rubles.

The Russian ruble was not traded.

So, the official exchange rate has increased 26% from 10,900 to 13,760 rubles a dollar since the appointment of the new National Bank chief, Pavel Kalaur.

The 30% duty on purchasing foreign currency on the Belarusian Currency and Stock Exchange by companies and sole proprietors that was imposed on December 19, 2014, has been lifted on January 8, 2015. It follows from the Council of Ministers' resolution No.5 of January 6, 2015.

“The duty on purchasing foreign currency via the auctions on the Belarusian Currency and Stock Exchange shall be reduced to 0% on January 8, 2015,” the resolution says.

Individuals will stop paying the duty on January 9.
