“Chamber” Voted For Punishment For “Social Parasitism” Tax Evaders

The unemployed are to be fined or arrested for non-payment of taxes.

In the first reading the “chamber of representatives” approved amendments to the Administrative Code and to the Code of Execution Procedure. The new things are punishments for those who would not pay the tax on “social parasitism,” BelTA reports.

The limits of the punishment for evaders from the “social parasitism” tax are set by the Decree №3, which introduced the term “social parasitism” proper. We remind that according the law, now persons who do not work for more than 183 days a year, should pay a tax of 20 basic units to the budget. It makes Br3.6 million at the moment.

“According to the decree, an administrative responsibility in a form of a fine from 2 to 4 basic units (Br360 – 720,000), or an administrative arrest are the punishments for non-payment or underpayment of the tax – reminded the Deputy Minister for Taxes and Levies Vasil Kamenka, addressing the “parliament.” – The protocols are drawn up by relevant officials of taxation authorities, and the cases of such violations are considered by taxation authorities or district city courts.”

We remind that earlier the Council of Ministers approved the order of involving in the performance of work of Belarusians who would be arrested for non-payment or underpayment of “social parasitism” taxes. It is written in the decree that “social parasites” who are serving the administrative arrest, would perform the work on the basis of requests from organisations owned by the state or municipal enterprises.

The period of the community service for persons under administrative arrest should not exceed 8 hours a day and 40 hours a week. A break is also offered to “social parasites” who perform community service – no less than 20 minutes and no more than 60 minutes. The time of the break for rest and a meal is not included in the duration of the community service performance.
