NATO Secretary General: Separatists in Donbas wreck agreements

Jens Stoltenberg has called upon Russia and separatists, who had signed agreements in Minsk, to follow through provisions of the document.

This statement has been made by the NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on the sidelines of the informal meeting of heads of defence ministries of the EU countries in Riga, BBC informs.

“The refusal of the separatists to respect the cease-fire threatens the agreement, – Jens Stoltenberg stressed. – I urge Russia to end its support for the separatists.

And withdraw its forces and military equipment from eastern Ukraine in accordance with the Minsk agreement. The separatists should halt all attacks immediately.”

As noted by the high-ranking politician, the situation in and around Debaltseve is deteriorating. Denial of access to the area for the OSCE monitors threatens the agreement as well.

According to Minsk agreements, since February 15 military clashes were to be stopped in the conflict areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine.
