Zbigniew Bujak: Putin winning propaganda war

It is possible that a moment will come when diplomacy is going to start working, but at the moment it does not help to resolve the conflict in Donbas.

On Tuesday the 8th Europe-Ukraine Forum ended in Lodz. This conference with participation of guests from all over the world, dedicated to the situation in Ukraine – the war, economy, necessary reforms and the complex geopolitical situation. Among the speakers there was Zbigniew Bujak, a well-known figure of the Polish opposition of the times of the People's Republic of Poland, one of the founders of the trade union Solidarność, Dziennik Lodzki writes.

- It’s a conflict of civilizations, as our Ukrainian colleagues evaluate it. It’s a confrontation of the culture of free Cossacks and Putin’s culture. Ukrainians are purposefully speaking about Putin, and not about Russia or Russians, as they divide the liberal part of Russians, who are on their side, – Bujak said. – The territories for which battles are held now, are very important for Putin, as it is a foothold for occupying the entire Ukraine. These are the territories, with a great history, culture, which here in Poland we do not realize, and where the most modern Ukrainian plants, arms industry, gas and oil are situated.

The politician also stressed that Warsaw has special obligations to Kyiv. Poland, to his mind, is to support Ukraine and explain Europe, why this country is so important. Bujak has also taken a decisive stance towards military assistance to Ukraine.

- Putin has already sent soldiers to Ukraine, it has already happened. That is why it’s an intellectual lie that military assistance should not be provided to Ukraine, as it would aggravate the conflict. It is possible that a moment will come when diplomacy would be able to start working, but today diplomacy does not help, and Putin is winning the propaganda war,” Bujak said.
