Stanislau Shushkevich: Ukraine needs modern weapons

Diplomatic efforts give no results countering the aggressor.

Minsk Agreements slightly decreased the tension in the ATO zone, but the enemy still carries out armed provocations. Andrei Lysenko, the ATO speaker, says that militants continue armed provocations, including the use of heavy equipment.

The so-called peace agreement will not stop Russian aggression, Radio Racyja reports.

"Ukraine needs military assistance with modern weapons, the first leader of an independent Belarus Stanislau Shushkevich believes.

"The trouble is that Ukraine now recalls such patriotic tribe who fights against modern jet fighters with its poisoned arrows. The only possible aid is to provide Ukraine with armament. It is impossible to defend yourself with these primitive means. I'm afraid that diplomatic efforts are not enough, if Ukraine is not supplied with modern weapons", he stated.

Andrei Lysenko said over weekends at Donetsk direction there had been shooting attack against Ukrainian positions near settlements of Peski, Opytnoe, Vodyanoe using multiple launch rocket systems, artillery, mortars.

At Mariupol direction militants fired at Ukrainian positions four times with tanks, mortars and small arms.
