Belarus ready to supply electricity to Ukraine

Belarus is ready to starts supplies of electric power to Ukraine, which is interested in such supplies.

Belarusian minister of energy Uladzimir Patupchyk said it at a press conference in Minsk on Thursday, Interfax reports.

“We are ready to offer electricity supplies to the Ukrainian market,” Patupchyk said, noting that the initiative “belongs not to Belarus but to Ukraine”.

According to the minister, Belarus expects to double the export of electric power in 2015.

“If it goes as we expect, the export of electrical energy from Belarus can reach 1 billion kWh in 2015 against 500 million kWh in 2014,” Patupchyk said.

He noted that Belarus plans to import 2.5 billion kWh of electricity from Russia in 2015.

The Ministry of Energy of Belarus said earlier that the import of electrical power in 2015 would be 2.8 billion kWh and all supplies would be from Russia.
