Alyaksandr Frantskevich sentenced to 25 day’s arrest

The former political prisoner charged with violation of two articles of the Administrative Code at once.

On February 3, 2015 the case opened on administrative violation of Alyaksandr Frantskevich was tried in the court of Savetski district of Minsk, presided by Judge Artsyom Byaskishski, Viasna human rights centre informs.

Frantskevich was detained on February 2 and charged with violation of two articles of the Administrative Code: Article 17.1 (Petty hooliganism) and 23.4 (insubordination to legal demands of an official).

It became clear from evidence of Frantskevich, that during the working day several persons visited him at his working place. The director asked him to go downstairs, where people in mufti were already waiting for him. After that the activist was taken to the police department of Savetski district, where two reports were drawn up against him.

Two witnesses spoke in the court: riot policemen Sinyak and Palavinkin. They both said that when he was in Nezalezhnastsi, 58, Frantskevich behaved suspiciously: he was walking up and down, twitching, was nervous, and that attracted attention. The both witnesses told that they allegedly told their names, showed IDs, and after that Frantskevich tried to run away. When he was caught, the IDs were demonstrated again, and he started to swear, threatening problems at service for officers. After that he was warned that force would be used, he was placed to a service car, and taken to the police department of Savetski district of Minsk. Alyaksandr Frantskevich spent the night before the court in the detention facility in Akrestsin Street.
