Yuri Felshtinsky: "Nuremberg trials" of Putin may be held in Sevastopol

Nobody knows how to deal with a new Hitler in Europe in 2014.

Yuri Felshtinsky, Doctor of Historical Sciences an author of Blowing up Russia (with Alexander Litvinenko), does not exclude that one day an international trial of Russian President Vladimir Putin may take place in Crimea, annexed by Russia. He said in his interview to Glavkom.

Commenting on Russia's aggression towards Ukraine and occupation of Crimea, Felshtinsky named the situation unprecedented. "Since 1945 no country in Europe was trying to redraw borders by violating neighbouring territory. The current situation is unprecedented. It's partly the reason why the civilized world is so confused. Nobody knows how to deal with a new Hitler in Europe in 2014. Therefore, it is hard to predict what will be the way out. I think this adventure will be no good for Russia. There may be any consequences", the historian said.

Concerning trial of Putin, he noted that it did not have to be held in the Hague. "After all, it may take place in Sevastopol. The trial of the Nazis was held in Nuremberg, because since 1927 there were held congresses of the Nazi Party. Perhaps, Tbilisi (the invasion of the Russian army in Georgia in 2008) or Grozny (the second Chechen war) may also claim the right to try Putin. I guess there will be enough of those wanting to provide their cities for the trial of Putin", Felshtinsky said.
