Kasinets: Activists called for clashes next to Shauchenka monument

Aliaksandr Kasinets, the head of Presidential Administration, commented on activists' arrest in Minsk.

The head of Lukashenka Administration said that the information of one of journalists (BBC journalist Tatstsiana Melnichuk - editor's note) towards unfounded arrests of citizens and corruption was checked up, BelTA reports.

Kasinets noted that there had been no detained near the French Embassy in Minsk. As for the detained near Taras Shauchenka monument, they, in his words, were calling for clashes.

It should be reminded that for participation in a rally of memory of Belarusian Mikhail Zhizneuski who died in the Maidan and other Heavenly Hundred Heroes activists were sentenced to arrest.

"Police officers stood still when activists were saying slogans concerning various issues in Ukraine, Belarus. But then the other slogans were voiced: take the square, let's make the Belarusian Maidan...What are you talking about? Kasinets emphasized. - There will not be any Maidans and square rallies".

At a press conference on January 29 Lukashenka demanded to deal with the detention of people with posters "Je suis Charlie" next to the French Embassy in Minsk. Tatstsiana Melnichuk, the correspondent of BBC, called on the authorities to respond adequately to criticism and do not detain people with an opinion different from official one.

"I fully support this, Lukashenka said and addressed the question Aliaksandr Kasinets, the head of the Administration of the President. - Do we have this problem? Well, four people were there. Were they against Muslims? Acting like this the authorities act to the detriment of themselves.

"We will sort out the situation", Kasinets said.
