US State Department: Putin admits Russian military intervention in Crimea

Russian President Vladimir Putin has admitted that the Russian armed forces acted on the territory of Crimea and were ready to take aggressive actions.

The U.S. State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki said on Monday, commenting on the film "Crimea. The way to the Motherland," Ukrainian online newspaper RBK-Ukraine reported, with reference to Bloomberg.

"A year ago, President Putin announced to the world that the Russian armed forces did not intervene in the situation in the Crimea. Today, he admits to the whole world that the Russian troops actually intervened - and these are his own his own words," Psaki said.

"I think that the Russian Federation has admitted to the whole world not only its military intervention, but also that they were ready to take more aggressive actions," Psaki said, commenting on Vladimir Putin's words that he was ready to place Russia’s nuclear forces on alert in March 2014.
