Mustafa Nayyem: Ukraine and Lukashenka have different ways

The Belarusian dictator has nothing in common with the common European values, which Ukraine aspires to.

Mustafa Nayyem, a Ukrainian journalist and MP, holds a number of meetings in Warsaw. He noted at the meeting at “Ukrainian World” that if it hadn't been for the Maidan protests, Ukraine would have turned into another Belarus, Radio Racyja reports.

He thinks Aliaksandr Lukashenka is only a situational partner for Ukraine.

“I visited Belarus and I remember how Lukashenka held other presidential 'elections'. For me, this person has nothing in common with the common European values, which we aspire to. This is the truth. He is a situational partner. Nothing more, nothing less. He is a person from another civilisation, another generation, with other values. We cannot have any mutual talks in the future,” the member of Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada said.

Mustafa Nayyem was among the first journalists who called to take to streets in November 2013, protesting against the government's decision to stop preparations for signing the Association Agreement with the EU.
