Tsmoki Minsk edge Kalev Tallinn for seventh win in VTB United League

BC Tsmoki Minsk defeated Estonia's Kalev 89-88 at home to claim their seventh victory in VTB United League this season.

The home team led by as much as 17 points, limiting Kalev to 33 points in the first half. The visitors came roaring back in the second half and scored 35 points in the final period, however the Belarusians held on for their fourth straight win at home.

Rashaun Freeman led the way for the Dragons with his 21 points in the game. Minskers took revenge for the recent 84-93 defeat in Tallinn.

The Belarusian team currently goes with seven victories in 26 games. BC Enisey and Krasnye Krylia Samara hold the same number of wins. The standings are topped by CSKA Moscow with 25 wins in 28 games. Then go Khimki Russia with 22 victories in 26 games and Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnoyarsk (19 wins).

The Dragons are back in action on 11 April as they host CSKA Moscow.

The VTB United League regular season finishes in mid April. Eight best teams will continue competition in the play offs. The post-season rounds will be held until three victories by one of the rivals. The winner of the 6th VTB United League season will be named in June. CSKA Moscow won the tournament in 2010, 2012-2014. Khimki Russia picked up the VTB United League trophy in 2011. Tsmoki Minsk are playing in the tournament for the fifth time (they have never reached playoffs before).
