SBU says it has detained 40 saboteurs in Odesa

A group of 40 saboteurs who were preparing attacks and provocations in the city of Odesa were detained by Ukraine’s SBU security service during a special operation.

The press secretary of the SBU Olena Hytlianska wrote on her Facebook page on Friday.

"We are continuing to 'clean' Odesa region of saboteurs and terrorists. At this moment, the security services are detaining saboteurs who intended to disrupt the Easter holidays in Odesa," Hytlianska wrote.

"In general, the SBU has detained 40 people," she wrote.

"Ten of them have already been charged. The investigations against other detainees are continuing, as well as searches. The officers found large quantities of weapons and explosives."

According to Hytlianska, the SBU, the Prosecutor General's Office and the Interior Ministry are continuing an active phase of "cleaning" the region of criminal elements.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on April 9 the SBU reported the detention of a group of 29 saboteurs in Odesa.
