Charnobylski Shlyakh in Minsk permitted

The assembly point is Kastrychnki (October) cinema, April 26 at 2 p.m.

Today a meeting of the Chernobyl Way (Charnobylski Shlyakh) organisers with officials of Minsk City Executive Committee was held. The rally was authorized, though some changes in the programme, charter97.org was told by one of the organisers of the rally, a co-chairman of the organizing committee for creation of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Vital Rymasheuski.

“The rally has been authorized, though the authorities have shortened the time for assembling by half an hour: participants were given time to gather near the cinema from 2.00 p.m. to 2.30 p.m. The march is authorized to be finished near Chernobyl Chapel. It is to be held from 2.30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

We invite everyone to join. We have a right for freedom of assembly and we should fight for it. Everyone can take white-red-white ribbons and flags,” the politician said.

We remind that an application for holding Charnobylski Shlyakh rally on April 26 was submitted to Minsk City Executive Committee on April 10. The organisers asked the city executive committee to permit holding the rally in the following format: to gather near Kastrychnik cinema from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., to hold a march along Surhanau Street to the Church in honour of the Icon of the Mother of God "Seeking Out of the Lost", located next to the Park of Peoples' Friendship. It is decided not to hold a meeting this year.
